Overview
Thank you for considering Flandreau Indian School for your student’s education. Below is an overview of the application process and the required documents to complete your student's enrollment.
New Students
Required Documents for Application Processing
- Copy of state-issued birth certificate
- Copy of Social Security card
- Copy of Certified Degree of Indian Blood (Tribal membership cards are not accepted)
- Copy of health/medical insurance cards
- Immunization record (including second MMR vaccine)
- School physical form
- Report cards showing completion of eighth grade through December and final grades in May (for all students)
- Transcript with GPA (for students applying to 10th-12th grade)
- Court-appointed legal documentation (if applicable)
Please retain original copies of your birth certificate, Social Security card, medical card, and Certificate of Indian Blood for your personal records. Only submit copies to the school.
Important Application Guidelines
Physical Exam: All students, both new and returning, are required to complete a physical exam. Appointments should be scheduled well in advance. For additional details, please refer to pages 16-22 of the application package.
Transcripts and Academic Records: Students applying for high school (10th through 12th grade) must obtain an official transcript from their current registrar. Be sure to request this document before schools close for summer break.
Sports Participation: Students interested in participating in athletics must be on campus on the first day of school. Missing the first day will result in a 45-day waiting period before participating in sports.
Travel Arrangements: Flandreau Indian School will provide students with travel arrangements at no cost. If you do not travel on the provided dates, you will be responsible for arranging your own transportation to school.

Please ensure your application is complete before submission. The admissions committee will not review incomplete applications.

Returning Students
All returning student packets will be mailed out at the end of July. No new application is required if the student ended the school year in good standing.
